Mountain test

The mountain test , in Norwegian Bergen test , formally "Test i norsk for voksne innvandrere - høyere nivå" - in German: "Norwegian test for adult immigrants - higher level" , is a language test for Norwegian .

General

This test is divided into seven levels (Norwegian: Trinn ) and the associated courses. Different levels are selected depending on the legal or professional requirements or entitlements of the immigrant. So z. B. For studying in Norway, the achievement of at least 450 of the total of 700 points is required.

The content of this test was developed at the University of Bergen , hence the abbreviation "Bergentest". It is intended to maintain and secure the language level for certain professions in Norway. In addition, this test is intended to promote the linguistic and socio-cultural integration of immigrants. Two forms of the Bergen test are currently offered, a - detailed - written test, which is recognized as general proof of knowledge of Norwegian, and an abbreviated oral test, which has been specially designed as proof for foreign medical staff. The content of the written test primarily relates to the understanding of the Norwegian language; this includes reading and listening comprehension of Norwegian texts. In addition, socio-political issues are also dealt with.

The mountain test takes place three times a year in most of Norway's major cities. There is a one-time fee of 1,800 kroner for the written test and 850 kroner for the oral test. In addition to the free state courses, there are other privately organized courses to prepare for the tests, which can cost up to 10,000 crowns. Information on courses and the test can be obtained abroad from the respective Norwegian embassy and consulates in the country.

Restructuring

Since October 2009 there have been several revisions in the procedure and the evaluation structure of the test. Mainly the evaluation system was changed: There are only the following levels: "Failed", "Passed" and "Good passed".

Free courses

Immigrants who are not citizens of the EU / EEA or a Nordic country have both the right and the right to stay on the condition that they are refugees in the country and have a work / residence permit that gives them the right to permanent residence Compulsory to complete 300 hours of Norwegian / social studies.
