The Bergerhöhle (exact name: Berger-Platteneck-Cosa-Nostra- Höhlensystem) - cadastral number 1511/162 - is a cave system in the Tennengebirge in the Austrian state of Salzburg . The cave system has a currently known total length of 31 km and a total depth of 1300 meters.

The cave was discovered by Salzburg cave explorers in 1966 and explored in the following years. In 1987, the top entry at 2000 meters above sea level was used by a French research group. The research in the vast labyrinth has not yet been completed.

The cave system consists of the following caves:

  • Mountain cave 1511/162
  • Bierloch 1511/163 (Wirreck east wall)
  • Platteneck ice cave 1511/164
  • Wildsteighöhle 1511/186
  • Cosa Nostra Hole 1511/455

The main entrance to the Bergerhöhle is only 30 by 60 centimeters with strong ventilation , the Platteneck ice cave has 10 entrances between 1398 and 1600 meters above sea level.
