The Lammeröfen or Lammerklamm are located in the municipality of Scheffau in the state of Salzburg .
The gorge is in the district Oberscheffau from the lambs formed, a tributary of the Salzach , and is the breakthrough between Black Mountain the Osterhorngruppe ( Salzburg Limestone Pre ) and the Road Mountain , a Foothill of Tennengebirge ( Salzburg Kalkhochalpen ).
The gorge is about 1000 meters long, the difference in altitude is 43 meters. The gorge runs from north to south and is protected as a natural monument. The underground of the gorge consists of limestone . The Lammer first flows through the narrowest part of the gorge, which is closed with rubble at the upper edge of the gorge, and is called Dark Gorge , then the gorge widens and after another narrow point, which is bridged by a footbridge, the valley opens towards Oberscheffau . A secured, easy path leads through the gorge, which can be climbed for a fee. The climbing system has existed since 1884. There are restaurants at the top and bottom of the gorge.
The entrance to the gorge is easy to reach on foot or by car (parking lot) and is located about 500 meters (lower end of the gorge) or 2000 meters (upper end of the gorge) north of the Oberscheffau district, directly on the connecting road from Golling to Abtenau , the Lammertalstraße ( B 162), which bypasses the Lammeröfen with the pass near Purgstall .
