The Sokolna Mountain Hut (Bulgar. Хижа "Соколна"; abbreviated: х. Соколна; transcription: Chizha sokolna) is a mountain hut in the Central Balkans National Park , near the Sokolna Nature Reserve.
The Sokolna Mountain Hut is public property of the Pavel Banja Commune, Stara Sagora Oblast . The mountain hut is made available by the municipality to the Sokolna Tourist Group, a local branch of the Bulgarian Tourism Association , for free use.
history
It all started in 1972 with the construction of a small refuge (Bulgarian заслон; transcription: Zaslon; literally translated: shelter). In 1984 the construction of the Sokolna mountain hut was completed. The construction was carried out exclusively through voluntary, unpaid work and with donated building materials. Since there is only a tourist hiking trail leading to the mountain hut, all building materials were brought up on horses. Because of deliberate arson, there was a major fire in the mountain hut on June 21, 2005.
tourism
The mountain hut has 43 beds on two floors, a dining room, a sales booth and a summer terrace.
