The mountain hut warbler ( Sialia currucoides ) is a medium-sized songbird from the thrush family.

features

The mountain hut warbler, 18 cm long, has a narrow beak and long, pointed wings. The male is sky blue, with a light blue chest and white belly; the female gray with blue parts on wings, tail, trunk and white belly.

The mountain hut warbler lives in summer on alpine pastures and mountain regions at an altitude of over 1500 m in western North America and moves to the lowlands or Mexico to winter.

The mountain hut warbler feeds on insects that it catches while shaking or from a hide or pecks from the ground. In addition, small fruits complement the diet. In winter the birds look for food in troops.

Reproduction

The female builds a loose shell nest from plant material in nest boxes or natural caves, for example in trees. The clutch consists of four to eight eggs.
