The Berghautunnel is a railway tunnel of the Gäubahn in the south of Stuttgart. The north portal leads to Stuttgart-Rohr , the south portal on Sindelfingen markings to Böblingen . The 200 m long structure lies between the route kilometers 17.618 and 17.819. The structure crosses under the Federal Highway 8 and can be driven in both directions at 130 km / h.

In 2014, the tunnel was used daily, in both directions, by 14 long-distance passenger trains and 36 regional trains, as well as by the S1 line of the Stuttgart S-Bahn .

The structure was erected between 1877 and 1879 and crosses layers of the Keuper . The structure was renovated between July and September 2016. In 2014 and 2017, the tunnel was classified in category 2 on the DB Netz's four-stage condition rating scale (“Major damage to the structural part that does not affect safety”).

In the course of the Rohrer curve planned for Stuttgart 21 , a single-track S-Bahn tunnel is to be built next to the tunnel.

An overhead conductor rail has been installed in the tunnel since 2006 .
