Berghof (shoot)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Berghof is an estate in the Trieb district of the city of Lichtenfels in the district of the same name in Bavaria .

history

The large estate in the center of the town of Trieb was managed by the Langheim monastery . Since the late 17th century it has been led by a monk, the so-called Hofmeister. From 1727 Abbot Gallus Knauer had the Hofmeisterei replaced by a new building from the Coburg master builder Johann Georg Brückner, which the subsequent Abbot Martin Wolf expanded in 1733.

In addition to a residential building, barns and stables, the facility also included a brewery. In the middle of the courtyard there was a Marien-Kapelle, which belonged to the parish of Isling, until 1869. After Langheim Abbey was abolished, the community bought part of the Hofmeisterei in 1824 and housed a school, priestly apartment and poor house there. Another part of the complex remained the estate; it was bought in 1824 by the former Langheim monastery doctor Dr. Michael Krappmann (1776–1864). Since it included mostly fields on the heights, it was called the Berghof.

In 1867 John Herman Benecke (1819–1880) from Frankfurt am Main bought the estate. He bought the entire complex and had the house remodeled. He had the chapel demolished and replaced by a new building elsewhere. His son Walter E. T. Benecke expanded the farm to over 160 hectares and had the first silos built in the area. In 1902 he set up an electricity company in the neighboring town of Hochstadt , which has also supplied Trieb with electricity since 1906. His descendants are still the owners of the Berghof.

Todays use

The Berghof has been privately owned since 1867.
