The mountain calender lark ( Melanocorypha bimaculata ) is a songbird from the lark family . There are three poorly differentiated subspecies.

features

It is a large and robust-looking lark that reaches a size of 16 to 18 centimeters. It weighs between 47 and 62 grams. The wingspan is between 33 and 41 centimeters.

Occurrence

It breeds in the warm temperate countries from Central Anatolia, Israel and Syria to Iran and parts of Central Asia to western China. Unlike the calender lark , it prefers more mountainous regions and high altitudes.

It overwinters mainly in Northeast Africa, the Middle East as far as India and is a very sociable bird outside of the breeding season.

This bird lives in stony semi-deserts and higher altitudes.
