The company was founded in 1874 by Otto Bergmann and Adolph Franz under the name Bleirohrfabrik und Röhrengroßhandlung Bergmann & Franz . In 1900 the co-founder Adolph Franz. Carl Bachmann, Otto Bergmann's son-in-law, died and Gustav Eberstein continued the Bergmann & Franz Nachf. Company .

In the golden 20s , the company Bergmann & Franz Nachf. Aktiengesellschaft was founded in 1924 , which from 1928 concentrated on the trade in sanitary furnishings. After Werner Ehrig joined the company in 1935, two years later the company was converted from a stock corporation to a limited partnership. The shareholders at the time were Rudolf Hahn and Werner Ehrig. August Wollschläger & Co. GmbH joined the company as a general partner in 1964 . Rudolf Hahn died two years later in 1966.

In 1988 the limited partner Werner Ehrig also died. In 1995 the new logistics center with 9,000 m² of storage space was opened in Blumberg . In 1999 Markus Ehrig-Holzapfel joined the company as managing director. He died in 2012. Today the company is managed by Andreas Ubl and Lars Paulsen.
