Quarters

The quarters were named after church festivals that took place in the respective quarter. Originally, the quarters ended on Saturdays before or after these public holidays; it was not until later that they were adjusted to calendar months. End of the quarter which were in yield or Zubußzettel distributed, the on time and Quatembergelder paid and Retardat maintained. In addition, the drive performance of the hoppers was measured during drives and the quarterly stage was struck.

There were the following quarters:

  1. Quarter Reminiscere (January 1st to April 1st)
  2. Quarter of Trinity (April 1st to July 1st)
  3. Quarter of Crucis (July 1st to October 1st)
  4. Quarter Luciae (October 1st to January 1st)

If the quarter of Reminiscere only started on January 1st or 6th, then there was a so-called final quarter of Luciae from Luciae to Reminiscere .

In correspondence, a short form was usually used, which consisted either of the year followed by the first letter of the quarter ( 1669 T - Quarter Trinity in the year of the Lord 1669) or the first three letters followed by the year ( Trin. 1669 ).
