history

The first race on "Mickhauser Berg" took place in 1964. Initially until 1985, 20 races were held there on the 2,100 meter long track. At that time it was considered to be the fastest German hill climb track. The events were called “Augusta” mountain races.

The Augusta hill climb was organized by the "DASCA-Augusta-Sportfahrer-Club Augsburg e.V." aligned. Since 1979 the "Automobil- und Motorsportclub Haunstetten eV im ADAC" was co-organizer. In 1982 the hill climb was canceled. From 1983 the AMC Haunstetten was the sole organizer. Stricter official requirements and rising costs prevented the event from continuing in 1986.

In 2001 the track with a length of 1,900 meters was revived by ASC Bobingen. Since then, the "Mickhausen Hill Climb" has been held every year in October.

In 2004 Mickhausen hosted the FIA International Hill Climb Challenge for the first time.

Since 2006 the route has been 2,200 meters. About 25,000 spectators came to the 26th hill climb in 2006.

Others

In 2003 Manuel Reuter demonstrated his Opel Astra from the DTM at the hill climb in Mickhausen, as his team at the time, Holzer Motorsport, is based nearby.

The mountain race track is also very popular with (amateur) motorcyclists. Due to the increased volume and sometimes risky driving style, accidents occur again and again.

Since the beginning of 2019, the racetrack has been partially closed to motorcycles on weekends (Friday to Sunday) and on public holidays.
