Analysis of mining damage

The mining damage analysis (BSA) is a technical term from the "Order on the safekeeping of underground mining facilities (safekeeping order) VerwAnO".

"Custody order of October 19, 1971 (Journal of the GDR 1971 II p. 621)"

In accordance with Section 6 of this legal provision in the GDR since 1971 and currently all German miners have had a mining damage analysis for mine workings that are no longer required in good time before the end of mining use - in the case of subsequent use of the mine workings by the mining company, in good time before the end of subsequent use - to be prepared and handed over to the responsible mining authority.

The mining damage analysis must contain the information required in the adjacent figure.

Nowadays, mining damage analyzes are mostly carried out by engineering firms. An interdisciplinary approach is followed. Based on documents from the old mine, mainly from the crack system , a hazard analysis is carried out for a specific area of the surface. Parameters as varied as the location of former mining fields , the mining method used and any unfilled mine workings , the location of heaps , dumps and remaining holes and the type of soil introduced are taken into account. This information is supplemented by sampling by means of boreholes , pressure soundings and other geological / geotechnical methods . If necessary, the exact position of unfilled mine workings is determined beyond doubt by exploratory drilling.

On the basis of the hazard potentials determined in this way, an action strategy (safety concept) is developed in order to rule out any risks to the planned construction measures. This is done by backfilling underground cavities, soil compaction and the introduction of geotextiles .
