Hans Brugger

Hans Brugger (born December 6, 1905 in Mattwil , † December 6, 1995 in Brugg ) was a Swiss economist .

Life

Hans Brugger was born in 1905 as the son of farmer Johann Jakob and Barbara Brugger, née Marti, in Mattwil, which today belongs to the municipality of Birwinken . After attending the canton school in Frauenfeld , he worked for three years in the Zurich silk industry. From 1928 to 1934 he took the degree in economics at the University of Zurich , which he awarded the degree of Dr. rer. pole completed.

Hans Brugger, who married Elisabeth Ruh in 1939, died in Brugg on his 90th birthday in 1995.

Act

From 1934 to 1970, Brugger worked as an economist and head of the statistical department in the Swiss Farmers' Secretariat in Brugg. As an author, he made numerous contributions to agriculture in Switzerland and individual cantons , which can be traced back to the profitability surveys initiated by Ernst Laur and the official censuses. These contributed significantly to the fact that agriculture became the statistically best documented economic sector in modern Switzerland. They also form an important basis for Swiss agricultural history .
