The network crocus ( Crocus reticulatus ) is a plant from the genus of crocus ( Crocus ).

features

The net crocus is a perennial tuber geophyte that reaches heights of growth of 5 to 10 centimeters. The leaves are 0.5 to 1 millimeter wide. There are 2 bracts. The flowers are fragrant and small. The perigone measure 17 to 35 × 4 to 13 millimeters. They are colored white or purple. The outer tepals are pointed, longer and narrower than the inner ones and usually have 3 to 5 longitudinal purple stripes and finer lateral nerves on the outside.

The flowering period extends from March to May (rarely from February).

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 12.

Occurrence

The net crocus occurs in from Moldova to the Caucasus. The species grows on limestone rocks and in steppes.
