history

After the fall of the Wall in the GDR, several representatives of bilateral national associations and intercultural initiatives met in Potsdam at the beginning of 1991, which founded the BBAG based on the model of the foreign association of North Rhine-Westphalia and in the hope of a common federal state Berlin-Brandenburg. The first president was Bert Becker, now a professor in Hong Kong, followed in 1995 by Lutz Stroppe , today State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, and in 2000 by Rainer von Bredow. Since 2015, the BBAG has been led by Elisabeth Schroedter, a long-time member of the European Parliament, as President. As managing director, Dr. Dieter Müller (1991–1996), Dr. Klaus Schmidt (1996–2002) and Kilian Kindelberger (since 2002) are responsible for performance in the club.

Today the BBAG is the sponsor of two intercultural centers in Potsdam (Schulstrasse 8b) and Brandenburg an der Havel (Gotthardtkirchplatz 10). The association was awarded the Integration Prize of the State Capital Potsdam in 2013.
