Berlin is a town in Holmes County , US -Bundesstaat Ohio , about 60 miles northeast of Columbus . The place was founded in 1811 and today has about 3500 inhabitants. It is the largest Amish town in the United States.

Berlin is shaped by the Amish way of life, who largely do without modern achievements. There is neither electricity nor a telephone network in these households . The Amish only use carriages as vehicles . Outside of the Amish community, however, Berlin is a modern place, especially because of tourism , attracted by the interest in the Amish. The economy is also determined by agriculture and the local furniture industry .

US Highway 62 , which meets Ohio State Route 39 in the center, runs through the town . This means that Berlin is well connected to the Ohio road network. The nearest airport is Holmes County Airport near Millersburg .
