The Kulturmagazin Berlin Programm is a monthly Berlin city magazine in the form of a program magazine . It was founded in 1951 by the Berlin Transport Office (predecessor of the Berlin Tourist Office and the Berlin Tourist Information Office ).

It is the oldest of the continuously appearing program guides in Berlin, is offered as a subscription magazine and is available nationwide.

history

Initially, the Berlin program appeared weekly, starting in June 1957 every 10 days, which was followed a little later by the change from DinA5 format to the square format that has been retained to this day . The editorial team became a co-editor alongside the traffic office, and from August 1970 became the sole editor . The brothers Steffan and Rainer Rimbach have been co-editors since 1977 and sole editors since 1980.

With the change of editorial and ownership to the Rimbach brothers in July 1977, the change to monthly publication was connected, a little later the introduction of four-color printing .

The Berlin Programm was a West Berlin magazine , but it had been providing information on visiting East Berlin since the 1950s . In the 1980s, the range of information on events in the GDR capital was expanded.

Since 1990 the events of the united city of Berlin and the city of Potsdam have been published, along with selected highlights from the state of Brandenburg .

content

The Berlin program announces events that will take place in the capital and the surrounding area with a focus on Potsdam. It follows the principle of neutral or advisory announcement in the interests of the organizers. Negative ratings or critical reviews are excluded due to the frequency of publication before the event takes place.

The schedules of the major opera , theater and cabaret stages are published in tabular form, those of the smaller stages in a compact overview - including schedules for children's and youth theater , cabaret and show theater as well as detailed announcements of important performances.

Highlights of city life, museums and buildings and squares worth seeing as well as selected restaurants are also presented . The cinema program is set at short notice and can therefore only be found in the online edition.
