Bernadette Schuster-Barkau

Bernadette Schuster-Barkau (born March 28, 1953 in Cloppenburg ) is a German politician. She is married and has two kids.

education and profession

After attending the grammar school for girls in Osnabrück, Schuster-Barkau took a business-related foreign language exam at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce and Industry and went to college. At the evening grammar school in Osnabrück she made up her A-levels and from 1978 to 1983 she took part-time studies in economics at the Hagen Open University . She worked as an export clerk, commercial clerk and administrative clerk and was an employee of a member of the Bundestag. From 1982 until her entry into the state parliament she was an employee, later managing director of the district parliamentary group of the SPD in Osnabrück.

Schuster-Barkau has been a member of the SPD since 1978. She is the deputy chairwoman of the Bramsche- Altstadt district. From 1986 to 1991 and from 1996 to 2001 she was a member of the local council Bramsche-Mitte. She has also been a member of the Bramsche City Council since 1996. Between 1986 and 1991 she was a member of the district council in the Osnabrück district . In 1998 she moved into the Lower Saxony state parliament as a replacement for Gerhard Schröder . Her mandate in the state parliament was confirmed in the 2003 elections. She belonged to the Presidium of the State Parliament and worked as a secretary before she left the State Parliament in 2008.
