Bernadette Vergnaud (born September 16, 1950 in Montluçon , Département Allier ) is a French politician of the Parti socialiste .

Life

Vergnaud studied Latin, Spanish and Portuguese to become a teacher. Vergnaud has been Deputy Mayor of Poitiers since 2001 . Vergnaud has been a member of the European Parliament since 2004 . She belongs to the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. In the period from 2009 to 2014, Vergnaud is Deputy Chair of the Committee on Internal Market and Consumer Protection. She is a member of the Delegation for relations with the Mercosur countries and of the Delegation to the Euro-Latin American Parliamentary Assembly.

As a deputy, she sits on the Committee on Transport and Tourism.
