Bernard Leiber

Bernard Leiber (born March 9, 1943 ) is a German chess player . He is German champion in correspondence chess .

Correspondence chess

Leiber qualified for the finals of the 20th German Championship 1985/90. Here he won with 10.5 out of 14 points (+8 = 5 −1) and became German correspondence chess master. In the final round of the 21st German Championship, however, he was unable to defend his title.

In 1999 he failed in qualifying for the 19th World Cup in the 3/4 final.

In the ICCF scoring list of January 2003, Leiber was listed with a score of 2436. He has been inactive since then. In 1993 he was named International Correspondence Chess Master and in 2001 he was named an Honored International Master.

Close chess

Leiber recorded some regional successes on the board. In 1974 and 1976 he was nominated for the final round of the NRW championship, in 1976 he became city champion of Münster, 1987 city champion of Osnabrück. In 1979, 1981 and 1983 he won the Lower Saxony Cup.

Its Elo rating is 2154 (as of April 2016), its highest rating was 2350 in July 1986.

Private

Leiber worked as a commercial clerk.
