Bernard Toone

Bernard Toone (born July 14, 1956 ) is a retired American basketball player .

Life

The two-meter-long winger won the NCAA championship title with Marquette University in 1977 . He contributed an average of 4.4 points per encounter in the championship season. His statistically best playing year at Marquette University was 1978/79, when Toone achieved averages of 18.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.9 templates. In the draft process of the NBA in 1979, the Philadelphia 76ers decided to secure the rights to the winger in the second selection round in a total of 37th place. Toone made the jump into Philadelphia's squad and played 23 NBA games (2.4 points / game) in the 1979/80 season.

Toone continued his career in Italy , in the 1980/81 season he was under contract with Latte Matese Caserta and recorded 21.3 points per encounter. This was followed by a season in Venezuela with Gaiteros del Zulia (1982/83). He was under contract with BV Orca in the Netherlands in 1983/84 (eleven games: 23.8 points / game). Toone moved to Germany and played in 1984/85 for SSV Hagen in the basketball league .

In July 1987, Toone was arrested in his hometown of Yonkers , New York State , while trying to break into a car. He had previously been given a suspended sentence for a similar offense, and after violating the conditions, he was imprisoned for five months until March 1987. In 1988 he was arrested again when he tried to break into a car.
