The Liplje camp was an internment camp operated during the Bosnian War in Liplje , Zvornik . It served the Serbian armed forces from May 25, 1992 to June 2, 1992 to intern mainly Bosniaks .

It was the only camp with Bosniak prisoners that was liberated during the war.

history

At the beginning of the Bosnian War, armed Serbian farmers from the nearby village of Snagovo overran Liplje on May 1, 1992 and set up the camp on May 25 to imprison the Bosnian residents. Between 420 and 460 people were imprisoned by the Serbian guards; Men, women and children were repeatedly beaten, raped and killed.

A total of 27 prisoners were killed. Refugees organized resistance groups in the cities of Cerska and Kamenica. On the night of June 1 to June 2, 1992, about 300 Bosniaks armed with 27 rifles liberated the Liplje camp after only one week of operation. It was the only camp with Bosniak prisoners that was liberated throughout the war from 1992 to 1995. None of the camp guards were prosecuted.
