Bernd-Alois-Zimmermann-Scholarship

The Bernd-Alois-Zimmermann-Scholarship is awarded annually by the City of Cologne to young composers up to 35 years of age in the field of new music .

Until 2009 it was restricted to people who live and work in Cologne. Composers from all over North Rhine-Westphalia have been able to apply for the award since 2010. The scholarship holders are expected to have their center of life in Cologne during the funding period. The prize is endowed with € 12,000. Its namesake is the Cologne composer Bernd Alois Zimmermann . The winners often introduce themselves at a winners concert.
