Harald Muenz

Harald Muenz (born September 20, 1965 in Schwäbisch Hall , Baden-Württemberg ) is a German composer .

Life

Harald Muenz studied composition with Helmut Lachenmann (1994–97), Johannes Fritsch , Klarenz Barlow , Krzysztof Meyer , Hans Ulrich Humpert (at the Electronic Studio of the Cologne University of Music ) and Martin Christoph Redel , as well as at the Detmold Tonmeister Institute and the Phonetics Institute of Cologne University ( Aesthetic phonetics with Georg Heike ). In addition to chamber, orchestral and vocal music, he is particularly dedicated to speaking composition , ars acustica and instrumental music with and without live electronics .

Muenz is the recipient of the NRW Music Prize (1997) and the NRW Research Prize (2001), received the Bernd-Alois-Zimmermann- Scholarship from the City of Cologne and was given work stays in the Villa Aurora / Los Angeles (2000) and the Künstlerhof Schreyahn ( 2005) invited. He has received prizes, grants, commissions and radio broadcasts (almost all ARD channels, BBC , RAI , Donaueschinger Musiktage and many others) in Germany, numerous European countries, South Korea and the USA . A portrait CD of his chamber music with the ensemble mosaik berlin has been released by Coviello. The scores were published by Feedback Studio Verlag Cologne. Issue 103 of the magazine MusikTexte (11/2004) was dedicated to his artistic work. At Pfau he published a book on Franco Evangelisti .

Together with Sigrid and Georg Sachse he forms the trio sprechbohrer , which performs the art of speaking from a musical perspective (best list 3/11 of the Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik for the first complete recording of Hans G Helms 'experimental language composition Fa: m' Ahniesgwow for Hessischer Rundfunk / WERGO ).

Muenz taught aesthetic phonetics at the Institute for Linguistics / Phonetics at the University of Cologne from 2001–2005 and was artistic director of the electronic studio at the Lübeck University of Music from 2006–2011. The interdisciplinary artist has been commuting between Cologne and London since 2005 , where he teaches composition at the School of Arts at Brunel University .
