Bernd Evers

Bernd Evers (* 1941 in Berlin ) is a German art historian and librarian .

Life

Bernd Evers studied art history, classical archeology and empirical cultural studies in Cologne, Berlin and Tübingen. In 1973 he received his doctorate in art history on the subject of mausoleums of the 17th – 19th centuries. Century. Typological studies on grave and memorial construction. 1974–1976 he trained as a scientific librarian as a trainee lawyer for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. 1976–1985 he was a specialist in art history and architecture at the RWTH Aachen library . In 1985 he switched to the art library of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin as director . The move of the art library to the Kulturforum Berlin took place under his leadership . He retired at the end of May 2006.

Evers published various books and articles on art history. In particular, his work "Architectural Theory" , which was published jointly with Christof Thoenes and published by Taschen in Cologne, helped him to attract national attention.

In 1995 he received the Cross of Merit on ribbon .
