Bernd Kundrun

Bernd Kundrun (born November 8, 1957 in Wuppertal ) is the former CEO of Gruner + Jahr AG in Hamburg .

Career

Kundrun studied business administration at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität in Münster and then did his doctorate at the University of Innsbruck .

In 1984 he began his career as an assistant to the management at Bertelsmann Club GmbH and rose to head of sales for the Bertelsmann Club chain in 1987. In 1989 he was appointed director of marketing at the Bertelsmann Club and chairman of the board in early 1993. From 1994 to 1997 Kundrun was managing director of the pay TV channel Premiere in Hamburg. In 1997 he was appointed to the board of Gruner + Jahr. From August 1997 to the end of October 2000 he was responsible for the Newspapers division, which included titles such as Berliner Zeitung , Sächsische Zeitung and Financial Times Deutschland, as well as other daily newspapers in Germany and abroad.

From November 1, 2000 to January 6, 2009, Bernd Kundrun was Chairman of the Board of Management of Gruner + Jahr AG, then Europe's largest magazine publisher . During this time he was also a member of the Bertelsmann AG Executive Board .

Bernd Kundrun has been a partner in the non-profit donation platform betterplace.org since February 1st, 2009. Since 2010 he has also been chairman of the supervisory board of gut.org non-profit corporation and its honorary chairman since 2015. He is also chairman of the Foundation for the Hamburg Art Collections (SHK).

At the end of 2009, Bernd Kundrun founded Start 2 Ventures Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, which makes start-up capital available to various online start-ups . Bernd Kundrun is also a member of the board of directors of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , the supervisory board of CTS Eventim and the board of directors of the RTL Group .

Private

Bernd Kundrun is married and has one son.
