Bernd Martin (born November 25, 1949 in Landsberg am Lech ) is a German business educator , he was rector of the DHBW Lörrach until 2013 and chairman of the directors' conference of the professional academies in Germany for many years .

biography

Martin first attended school in Landsberg and later moved to the St. Landolin home school in Ettenheim , where he obtained his Abitur in 1971.

He then completed his studies in economics and business education at the Free University of Berlin in 1977 with an examination for a degree in economics and business teaching. This was followed by an assistantship with the economic historian Wolfram Fischer . With his dissertation on the subject of the iron and steel industry in the German Customs Union 1850-1914 , he was awarded a doctorate in 1982. rer. pole. PhD.

From 1982 to 1987 he was sales manager at the pharmaceutical company Merck . This was followed by functions as managing director in wholesale and foreign trade companies.

In 1991 Martin was appointed professor of economics at what was then Lörrach University of Cooperative Education. From 1993 to 1997 he was deputy director, from 1997 to 2009 director and from April 2009 to April 2013 he was rector of this dual university, which is located in the border triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland.

In 2002 Bernd Martin was elected chairman of the directors' conference of the professional academies in Baden-Württemberg and at the same time of the Federal Republic of Germany. While he gave up the chair in Germany in 2007, he kept it in Baden-Württemberg until the establishment of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University.

Since 2005 he has headed the Association for Cooperative University Education (ACU) and member of the Board of Governors WACE, Boston.

Bernd Martin has been leading the Green parliamentary group in the Loerrach district council since April 2016 .

Bernd Martin is married to Brigitte geb. Servant and has a son and a daughter.
