Bernd Naumann (Germanist)

Bernd Naumann (born February 27, 1938 in Hirschfeld , Saxony) is a German scholar and linguist.

life and work

Naumann studied German and English in Heidelberg, Bristol and Erlangen. He received his doctorate in 1967 in Erlangen with Siegfried Beyschlag with poets and audiences in German and Latin Bible epics of the early 12th century: Investigations into early Middle High German and Middle Latin poetry on the smaller books of the Old Testament (Nuremberg 1968). After six years as a Statutory Lecturer in Dublin , he was appointed to a professorship for German linguistics in Erlangen in 1975. In 1982 he completed his habilitation with Horst Haider Munske with grammar of the German language between 1781 and 1856. The categories of German grammar in the tradition of Johann Werner Meiner a. Johann Christoph Adelung (Berlin 1986). In 1995 he was visiting professor in Kyoto. From 1996 to 2002 he was Vice Rector of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 2003 he retired. He wrote numerous features for Bayerischer Rundfunk. Naumann is married to the writer Ursula Naumann .
