Burgazada (also Burgazadası , or Burgaz , Greek Αντιγόνη Andigoni ) is the third largest of the Prince Islands in the Marmara Sea near Istanbul and belongs to the Adalar district .
The island got its previous name Antigoni from Demetrios I. Poliorketes , who built a fortification of the same name in memory of his father Antigonus I. Monophthalmos .
Evliya Çelebi describes the island in detail in Seyahatnâme , a travelogue about the Ottoman Empire in the 17th century.
Burgazada is the setting for many stories by the Turkish writer Sait Faik , who lived on the island. A museum was set up in his honor at Burgazada.
