Bernd Stegemann (historian)

Bernd Stegemann (born September 10, 1938 in Berlin ; † 2014 ) was a German military and naval historian .

Life

Stegemann received his doctorate in 1968 from the Free University of Berlin ( The German Marine Policy 1916 to 1918 ). The dissertation was supervised by Walter Bußmann . He was senior scientific advisor at the Military History Research Office in Freiburg im Breisgau .

Stegemann was particularly concerned with German military and naval history in the First and Second World Wars. He was co-author of volumes 2 and 3 of Das Deutsche Reich and the Second World War of the Military History Research Office.
