Bernhard Billeter

Bernhard Billeter (born July 26, 1936 in Zurich ) is a Swiss pianist , organist and musicologist .

Life

After studying piano, organ and musicology in Zurich, Vienna and Basel - he taught piano at the Lucerne Conservatory from 1969 to 1981, and from 1975 at the merger of the Zurich Conservatory and the Zurich Music Academy, now the Zurich University of the Arts , Faculty of Music, up to his resignation on July 1, 2001 organ, fortepiano, clavichord and performance practice. From 1984 to 1997 he was editor-in-chief of the Schweizerische Musikpädagogischen Blätter , then a member of the editorial committee of the Schweizer Musikzeitung until 2010 . He was also organist at various churches and lecturer at the University of Zurich . As a member of the central board of the “Swiss Music Education Association”, he was responsible for the further development of the vocational training offered by this association from 1994 to 2005.

In addition to his work as a pianist and organist, as a lecturer and editor, Bernhard Billeter has published numerous articles on Frank Martin , Paul Hindemith , Olivier Messiaen and Norbert Moret, as well as glosses and reviews that make an important contribution to music theory and musical practice.
