Bernhard Grau (historian)

Bernhard Grau (* 1963 ) is a German modern historian and archivist .

Bernhard Grau is director of the Bavarian Main State Archives . His main areas of work are the history of the German labor movement, the Bavarian constitutional history and the history of Munich's city and district.

Career

He studied history and legal history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . Grau has been working in the Bavarian archive administration since 1996. He holds the rank of chief archive director and acted as permanent representative of the general director of the Bavarian State Archives from 2007 to 2018 . On February 1, 2018, he became director of the Bavarian Main State Archives. His main research interests include the history of the labor movement, Bavarian constitutional and administrative history as well as Munich city and district history. Bernhard Grau is one of the deputy directors of the Munich Center for Edition Studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University (MÜZE).
