Groot's coat of arms

Bernhard Lorenz Groot was the son of a Lübeck ironworker who came from Heiligenhafen . He entered an uncle's business in 1735. In 1743 he took over the business founded by his older brother in Saint Petersburg and traveled from there to Russia. In 1756 he settled in Lübeck again and was elected to the Lübeck Council in 1760 from the corporation of the Lübeck Schonenfahrer . In the council he was the bettor , builder and especially active in the city treasury. He died unmarried.

Breite Strasse 29, known as Robert's House

Groot built the listed building at Breite Straße 29 , which still exists today and still contains his family coat of arms in the crown of the Rococo facade. In the lower half of the rococo cartridge modeled in moving shapes , it shows three carnations and above it on a crossbar three acorns on stems covered with leaves. His coat of arms is also in the third pension book of St. Petri (now in the city archive ). The shield only shows the three carnations (green in red field), while the three acorns form the crest . Since the helmet above the coat of arms of the gable is missing, the helmet ornament is composed into the cartridge as a modification.
