history

The factory, built by the architects Bernhard Ludwig (1866–1939) and Ferdinand Berchinak according to the information provided by Bernhard Hieronymus Ludwig , who died in 1897 , was located on January 1, 1898 in today's Färbermühlgasse 13 (formerly Gärtnergasse), with later outbuildings in the Perchtoldsdorfer Straße 21 and 23-25 in the company. In 1901 around 200 people were already working there. The steam engine, with an output that can be increased by up to 150 hp , provided the operating power for the woodworking machines in the furniture and joinery, the electrical lighting of the entire system as well as for the block and fournier saws, the veneer peeling machine, the machines for producing soft and hard floors and of the sawmill . An approximately one kilometer long, narrow-gauge towing track conveyed the traffic within the factory building and the lumber yards, on which around 1900 about 300 wagons of hard and soft wood, partly cut and partly as round wood, were stored.

The factory was also connected directly to the southern railway network with a standard-gauge towing track .

In terms of mechanical aids, the factory had 45 working and auxiliary machines around 1900. The large machine and work hall with a span of 26 meters and a clearance height of 10 meters for mounting larger objects such as portals and altars was remarkable .

The factory served on the one hand to produce all kinds of building joinery goods, on the other hand to produce simple and soft furniture, which was then completed in the company's Vienna branch.

The factory was badly damaged by fire in 1902.
