Bernhard Reich (church musician)

Bernhard Reich (* 24. November 1950 ) is a German, a Protestant church musician and until March 2016 regional church music director .

Live and act

Reich was church music director and district choirmaster in Calw from 1977 to 2009 , chairman of the Württemberg professional association of Protestant church musicians since 1986 and, together with Lothar Friedrich, chairman of the Association of Protestant Church Music in Württemberg eV Between 1994 and 2006, Reich was President of the Association of Protestant Church Musicians in Germany . In this capacity he was also co-editor of the specialist journal Forum Kirchenmusik .

Together with his wife, the musician (organ) Rose-Gabriele, he has seven children. The Reich family from Calw is therefore a large family of musicians, as the children also play music intensively and also study.

On September 14, 2006, Bernhard Reich was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit for his services to the common good . From November 2009 to March 2016, Reich was the regional church music director for the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . He has been succeeded in this office since April 2016 by the new regional church music director Matthias Hanke .
