history

Rosenkranzer developed his first Linux distribution BeroLinux in the mid-1990s . In 1998 he began studying computer science at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen (RWTH). During his studies he started working for the French Linux distributor Mandrake, later known as Mandriva . His Linux distribution BeroLinux was incorporated into the distribution of Mandrake.

He was then offered a job at the American Linux distributor Red Hat as a Red Hat Linux package developer for the KDE desktop environment . Due to differences over the future of KDE at Red Hat, Rosenkranzer left the company in 2003 to pursue other projects.

Rosenkranzer is also the founder and main developer of the Linux distribution Ark Linux , which later flowed into the Linux distribution OpenMandriva from Mandrake. At the time, he not only worked for Mandrake, but also for the Russian company ROSA Laboratories , which provided the Russian government with its own Linux distribution based on Mandriva Linux .

Rosenkranzer also invented a system of satellite television on inexpensive equipment that was distributed to schools in Ethiopia .

Rosenkranzer is currently working at Linaro , an organization that is dedicated to optimizing Linux on ARM processors, which are used in the embedded area on all common smartphones and tablet computers. In 2012 he was involved in accelerating Linaro's Android builds by modifying the Bionic software and improving the program tools. In October 2017, Rosenkranzer was the first developer to present functional prototypes of an ARM-based workstation computer and an ARM-based laptop on 64-bit architecture to the public for demo purposes.

Rosenkranzer is involved as a developer in several other free software projects such as KDE and OpenOffice .
