Bernhard Schmid (trumpeter)

Bernhard Schmid (* 1940 ) is a retired Swiss trumpeter .

Life

Bernhard Schmid, who comes from an active family of amateur musicians, was only able to start studying music at the Zurich Conservatory in 1960 after completing his professional training as a printer . His main subject teachers were Louis Duquenoy and Henri Adelbrecht , both representatives of the more French school. He completed his studies in 1965 with a teaching and orchestral diploma.

From 1965 to 1967 there was an interim permanent position in the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich (alternating trumpet concert and opera formation), and from 1967 to 1969 he played as a solo trumpeter in the Frankfurt Hessischer Rundfunk Radio Symphony Orchestra . During this time offers from the Orchester de Chambre Lausanne , Orchestra della Radio svizzera italiana , Lugano and Radio-Orchester Beromünster , Zurich.

From 1969 to 1971 he was deputy solo trumpeter of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. He then returned to the Hessischer Rundfunk as a solo trumpeter until 1987, where he was deputy solo trumpeter until 2004. From 1975 to 1985 he was a member of the Bach Collegium Stuttgart under the direction of Helmuth Rilling . From 1976 to 1981 Schmid was the initiator and director of the Frankfurt brass ensemble . In 1982 he was a member of the Swiss Festival Orchestra (Lucerne Festival Weeks). In 1985/1986 Schmid was one of the founding members of HR -BRASS and played with this ensemble beyond the year 2000.
