Bernhard Spinola

Werner Bernhard Ferdinand Spinola (born November 13, 1836 in Berlin ; † December 2, 1900 there ) was a German lawyer and longstanding administrative director of the Charité .

Spinola studied law in Berlin and Heidelberg and passed the first state examination in 1857 . From 1863 to 1867 he was a legal assistant at the senior public prosecutor's office at the Berlin Superior Court and from 1867 to 1872 a public prosecutor at the Kiel district and jury court. In 1872 he became the first public prosecutor at the Berlin Superior Court. In 1873 he became administrative director of the Charité and held this position until 1900. In addition, Spinola was a member of the National Liberal Party and sat in the Berlin city council .

In 1898, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the company, a bust was commissioned from Martin Wolff . At first it stood in the courtyard of the old Charité, since its demolition it has stood in front of the surgical clinic.

From Spinola's marriage to Elise Charlotte, b. Bendix (1849–1926), his son Adolf (1870–1916) and daughter Else Bernhardine (1876–1936) were born. The latter married the immunologist Emil von Behring .
