Bernhard von Gemmingen (* 1448 ; † 1518 in Tiefenbronn ) was an early representative of the von Gemmingen-Steinegg family . He had property in Steinegg and Tiefenbronn and was one of the new founders of the Society with the Donkey in 1483 .

Life

He was the son of Diether von Gemmingen (1398–1478) and Agnes von Sickingen († 1478). After the temporary capture of his father in the Battle of Seckenheim in 1462 by the Electoral Palatinate, he entered Veldenzian and Leiningen services in order to be able to campaign against the Electoral Palatinate, where he was not very successful. In 1478 he signed with his brother Otto († 1517) to re-establish the Society with the Donkey . In 1484 he was at the tournament in Stuttgart , in 1485 in Ansbach . He died in 1517 and is buried in Tiefenbronn , where his tomb is one of the most important tombs of the Church of St. Maria Magdalena .

family

Bernhard was married to Anna Truchsess von Bichishausen († 1510). His brother Otto († 1517) had only left daughters, from whom Bernhard's sons Dietrich and Otto acquired their uncle's inheritance. The sons shared the common property in 1519, so that the Steinegg line split with them into the branches of Steinegg and Mühlhausen.
