Bernie Young

Oscar “Bernie” Young (* around 1900; † unknown) was an American musician and bandleader (cornet, trumpet) of Chicago jazz .

Live and act

Young played with Arthur Sims and His Creole Roof Orchestra and the New Orleans Creoles (with Richard M. Jones and Stump Evans ) in the 1920s . In addition, he led his own formations during this time; in his Young's Creole Jazz Band played Cassino Simpson , Eddie Temple , Happy Caldwell , Mike McKendrick , Preston Jackson and Stump Evans. After Tom Lord he was involved in twelve recording sessions between 1923 and 1926, in addition to the recordings under his own name for Paramount Records with Ollie Powers , Edmonia Henderson , Jimmy Blythe , Ozie McPherson , Viola Bartlette / Lovie Austin , Ida Cox , Ma Rainey and Hazel Meyers . From 1927 to 1931 he led a Territory Band in Milwaukee, in which u. a. and Eddie Barefield , Doc Wheeler and Zilner Randolph played.
