Bernt Haas (born April 8, 1978 in Vienna ) is a football player with Swiss and Austrian citizenship. The defender also played in the Swiss national dress from 2000 , but was not in the squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
Haas began his professional career at Grasshoppers Zurich , where he gained Champions League experience at the age of 17 . In 2001 he moved to the English Premier League for Sunderland FC . In 2002/03 he went back to Switzerland for half a year, to FC Basel , with whom he advanced to the Champions League intermediate round. When he returned to the island, he moved to West Bromwich Albion in the second-rate First Division for the 2003/04 season . In 2004 the club was promoted to the Premier League. At the beginning of 2005, Haas moved to the Corsican club SC Bastia in the French Ligue 1 . After the club's relegation to Ligue 2 , he stayed on the Mediterranean island for another year.
In the 2006/07 season he played at the traditional Rhenish club 1. FC Köln , which was relegated to the German Second Bundesliga . From July 1, 2007 to summer 2010, he was under contract with FC St. Gallen in the Axpo Super League .

Haas' strengths are mainly throw-ins, duels and running across the flank over the right side.
