Life

Bernward Frank is a kinetic art artist . He grew up as the child of a scientist and a hand weaver. This artistic and scientific influence shapes his art. His work is characterized by cleverly applied knowledge of physics. His objects function without electricity and use natural forces such as wind, water and gravity. The multiple coupled rods and axes ensure chaotic movement, which plays an important role in his work. The simple titles refer to the respective physical effect: MagnusPendel, DoppelPendel, WasserDoppelKegel ... Bernward Frank is one of the traditional kinetics. In addition to his work as a kinetic artist, he organizes numerous artist meetings and from time to time gives lectures on kinetic art today.

Since the time of the first home computers , he has been searching networks for the relatively rare colleagues of his kind. This resulted in an ever-growing list of links and finally in 2001 the website Kineticus , which is now the largest international database of living kinetic artists.
