Bero Rigauer

Bero Rigauer (* 1935 ) is a German sports sociologist and university professor .

Life

Rigauer played basketball at the performance level . From 1975 to 2000 he was Professor of Sports Sociology at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg . In his research, Rigauer dealt with, among other things, "Sociodynamic processes in sports games", "Competitive sport as work performance", "Social rationality in sport", the history of sport sociology in Germany, sport in relation to industry, "Sport as ideology", “Social interaction in sport”, sport and politics as well as sport and health.

After his retirement, Rigauer stayed at the University of Oldenburg as a lecturer in sports sociology and in research. He published the work "Sport and Health: A Sociological Diagnosis" (2014), brought out a book on the cultural history of tears with a focus on sport, dealt with fundamental considerations of the sociology of sport in Germany and contributed to the "Handbuch Sportoziologie" published in 2008 “At.
