Bert Norris

Bert Norris (actually Albert James Norris; born November 5, 1898 in Mayfair , † June 11, 1990 in Wincanton ) was a British marathon runner .

In 1930 he was seventh in the Polytechnic Marathon and fifth in the English Championship. The following year he finished second in the Polytechnic Marathon in 2:40:37 h .

In 1933, after second places in the Polytechnic Marathon and the English Championship, he was Dutch champion in 2:42:55 h. In the following year he was again English runner-up, but did not finish for England at the British Empire Games in London in 1934 . In 1935 he won both the Polytechnic Marathon and the English championship. The following year he defended his title at the Polytechnic Marathon with his personal best of 2:35:20 h, but had to give up at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

In 1937 the third victory in the Polytechnic Marathon was followed by a third place in the English championship. In 1938 he won silver at the British Empire Games in Sydney , in 1939 he was runner-up in the Polytechnic Marathon.
