Bertall
Charles Albert d'Arnoux (Charles Constant Albert Nicolas d'Arnoux de Limoges Saint-Saens), called Bertall (born December 18, 1820 in Paris , France, † March 24, 1882 in Soyons , France) was a French caricaturist , draftsman and Eraser , he is also one of the pioneers of photography .
Bertall made numerous illustrations for Les Romans populaires illustrés . He illustrated with congenial wood engravings the fairy tale "Nutcracker and Mouse King" by ETA Hoffmann , translated by Alexandre Dumas the Elder , which appeared in Paris in 1845 under the name "Histoire d'un cassenoisette"; incorrectly under the author's name Alexandre Dumas. He has worked as a cartoonist for Journal pour rire and Le Grelot , among others .
