Berthil ter Avest (born November 19, 1970 in Wierden ) is a former Dutch football player who played on the position in the left midfield.

Career

Ter Avest played in his youth for his hometown club SVZW Wierden . At the age of 15 he moved to the youth team of FC Twente . At this club he played his first game in the Eredivisie in 1989 . After engagements with Roda Kerkrade and FC Groningen , he returned to FC Twente in 1994.

In 2000 ter Avest moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach in the German 2nd Bundesliga with his then coach Hans Meyer . There he played 20 games in which he scored one goal and was promoted to the Bundesliga at the end of the season . In the following season he only played one game when he was substituted on in the 89th minute of the game at Werder Bremen . After an Achilles tendon injury , he tried a comeback at De Graafschap , where he played his last game as a professional on March 8, 2003.
