Berthold Sprat

Berthold Sprotte ( July 31, 1846 in Breslau , Kingdom of Prussia - after 1903 ) was a German theater actor.

Life

Sprat was the son of a royal government official. After he had repeatedly performed successfully at amateur theaters and had played "Ruben" in Deborah at the summer theater in Breslau in 1865 , he decided to take up the stage profession. He took lessons from director August Bäcker in Oldenburg and began his first engagement in Görlitz in 1865, where he made his debut as the "blue knight" in Otto von Wittelsbach . In 1866 he came to Altona, 1867 to Liegnitz, 1868 to Glogau, 1869 to Rostock, 1870 to Aachen and in 1872 joined the association of the Oldenburg court theater. Until then he represented the subject of adolescent lovers in drama and comedy and then moved on to the subject of the first hero and bon vivant. From then on he scored in roles such as "Esser", "Egmont", "Tell", "Posa", "Orest", "Holofernes", "Othelo", "Faust" etc. as well as in the comedy as "Bolz", "Bolingbroke" , “Salfeld”, “Laurentius” in Maria Magdalena were very successful. From 1874 to 1878 he worked in Breslau, 1878 to 1883 in Bremen, 1883 to 1884 in Freiburg, 1884 to 1885 in Nuremberg, 1885 to 1886 in Augsburg, 1886 to 1887 in Königsberg, 1887 to 1889 in Halle and then joined the Association of Hofbühne in Braunschweig, where he made his prison debut as “Tell” and “Hagen” . There he represented the subject of hero fathers. He was also very successful in representative roles.
