Bertold Sommer

Bertold Sommer (born September 13, 1937 in Munich ) was a judge at the Federal Constitutional Court from 1991 to 2003 .

After taking the state examinations in law, Sommer worked for a short time at the Federal Insurance Agency for Salaried Employees before joining the judicial service of the State of Berlin , first at the regional court , then from 1968 at the administrative court . From 1969 to 1972, Sommer was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant for the first time, and then from 1972 to 1976 as a judge at the Higher Administrative Court in Berlin. Another delegation to the Federal Constitutional Court until 1979 followed. After his return to the Berlin Higher Administrative Court, Sommer was appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court in 1979 .

From July 12, 1991, Sommer was a judge in the Second Senate of the Federal Constitutional Court because of his election by the Bundestag as the successor to Judge Everhardt Franßen . On July 31, 2003, Sommer retired at the end of his term in office. His successor was the judge Michael Gerhardt .
