Everhardt Franßen (born October 1, 1937 in Essen ) was judge and president of the Federal Administrative Court and judge of the Federal Constitutional Court .

Franßen was born in Essen as the son of a natural scientist and after graduating from high school studied law in Mainz and Münster . Here he became an active member of Catholic student associations of the KV , in Mainz with Normannia-Greifswald and in Münster with Westfalia-Mazenod. After his 2nd state examination in law, Franßen was initially a judge at the administrative court in Münster and was also doing his doctorate at the same time. He then worked as a research assistant for the SPD parliamentary group in Bonn from 1971, before becoming the legal advisor in his hometown of Essen. From there, at the age of only 40, he was elected judge at the Federal Administrative Court in Berlin. In 1987 Franßen was elected judge in the second senate of the Federal Constitutional Court for the resigned President Wolfgang Zeidler at the suggestion of the SPD .

On June 30, 1991 Franßen became President of the Federal Administrative Court and therefore resigned from the Federal Constitutional Court. His successor there was the judge Bertold Sommer . As President of the Federal Administrative Court, Franßen retired on September 30, 2002 when he reached the age limit. He was succeeded by Eckart Hien .

Franßen is married and has two children.
