Horst Sendler

Horst Sendler (born June 17, 1925 in Kamenz ; † January 13, 2006 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer .

In 1956 Sendler received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin and, from 1958, worked in the Berlin Senate Department for the Interior. From 1969 Sendler was honorary professor at the Free University of Berlin.

From 1966 he was a judge (4th Senate), from 1976 Vice President and Chairman of the 7th Senate and from 1980 to 1991 President of the Federal Administrative Court .

From 1992 to 1997, Sendler was chairman of the Independent Expert Commission on the Environmental Code , which was set up by Klaus Töpfer , the introduction of which failed again on February 1, 2009.

In his publication Michael Kohlhaas yesterday and today (1985) he dealt with the roots of German terrorism.
